Saq Imtiaz
Saq Imtiaz

As UnaMesa's Education Director and Advocate, Saq brings together technological innovation and committed educators, NGO's and other interested parties, to address the shortcomings in availability and accessibility of quality education and better health-care. He is driven by the belief that better education and healthcare is the key to alleviating suffering and improving the human condition, and that, given the necessary tools and infrastructure, technology can play a significant role in this area.

Saq's focus at UnaMesa:
  • The use and development of technological tools and sustainable infrastructure to improve the overall quality and access to education and health-care information.
  • New distance-learning methods to provide up-to-date and quality education in under-served regions (including training of health-care workers).
  • Creation of a network of people committed to social change via education.
  • Creating opportunities for everyone to participate in UnaMesa's efforts, regardless of background, expertise or resources.
  • Development of an educational commons that will include course curriculum and associated tools.

Background:
  • Founder and President (2003-2007) of Meridian - a private non-profit organization that runs dozens of free, high-quality boarding schools in Africa and Latin America.
  • Consultant to WHO and UNICEF - 2005-2007
  • Medical doctor by training. (MD - UoI - 2003)
  • Project manager, designer and web-developer.
